Some of the children we see have been born with congenital deformities, such as clubfoot, or have soft tissue injuries that can have a severe impact on a child’s mobility. Orthopaedics, or orthopaedic services, aim at the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. This includes your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles.
Our skilled orthopaedic officers use specialist casting and splinting techniques to correct and improve many of the injuries and deformities, and help children to avoid being left with a lifelong disability that affects their mobility and potential. They can also provide assistive devices such as braces and splints for longer-term management.
