Social Work

Development and empowerment of families

What is Social Work?

In addition to therapy interventions, KCDC’s social work department provides extra support to families and children with disabilities. Working together with our therapists, local community leaders, healthcare workers and VHTs, our social work team identifies and assists in the management of complex cases families might be facing by developing a holistic support system for children with disabilities to be able to thrive, making appropriate referrals and follow up visits to ensure the well-being of the entire family. Involving fathers, siblings and other relatives in the care of children with disabilities helps take some pressure off mothers and grandmothers allowing for a more well-rounded approach to care.
